I have recently this week decided to create a category for this blog called ‘Health and Wealth’. I have created this category because I believe that whilst on your way to becoming a millionaire it is extremely important to remain healthy and physically and mentally fit. I have heard an analogy that I believe perfectly describes health.
Say you take the number 1,000,000 for example. Health is the number 1 and then everything else are the zeros in that number. So one zero would be your car, one zero would be your house, one zero would be your job/business, one zero would be your relationships. But say you took away your health what would you be left with? –> 000,000
All of the benefits we so eagerly seek are worthless without our health. You take your health away and you are left with nothing but a bunch of zeros.
Personally I am struggling with my health (which is not good seeing as I am only 20). I am constantly getting sick and I am tired often and I am fairly unfit. I am skinny (I weigh 66 kgs) but I am not as healthy as I would like to be. Here are a few things that I do badly and that I want to change. I believe many people will be doing these very same things.
1. I don’t sleep enough
This is my first problem. I will often stay up till the wee hours of the morning (2 am on a regular basis, sometimes as late as 4am or 5am) working on the internet or often just wasting time on the internet. This sleep deprivation is really getting to me and effecting my health.
I wish to go to sleep before 10:30 each night. They say one hours sleep before midnight is worth 4 hours sleep after midnight. So starting tonight this is the first habit I am going to change. They say that you shouldn’t try to change too many habits at once. So healthy sleeping patterns will be the first thing I am going to change.
2. I don’t exercise enough
This is a problem many people who work online, or who work office jobs all day have. Because they just sit in front of a computer all day (which I actually really enjoy), they never get out and exercise. This is a problem I have and as soon as I get my sleep paterns in order I am going to try and mend this bad habit of mine.
3. I eat a lot of junk food
I work from home, and often I just simply cannot be bothered making any food for myself. So I will eat lots of cereal because it is easy to make and lots of chocolate and icecream. This is very bad for my overall health and I would love to change this with time.
So remember health is the 1 and everything else are the zeros. So even though you have the goal to become a millionaire and extremely wealthy, you also need to goal of becoming extremely healthy so you can enjoy your wealth.
